California home made from wine barrels, 'rustic charm' hits market: See inside

A home for sale in Central California is a wine lover's dream come true.
The “Barrel House,” a home made out of a pair of two-story tall reclaimed redwood wine barrels in Big Sur, is on the market. And it can be yours for only $3.265 million.
This architect-designed home, according to the online listing, is a cultural timepiece among Big Sur’s luxury real estate properties.
Hillary Lipman, Big Sur Coast Properties listing agent, told USA TODAY Monday that the current owner is “ready to retire and move closer to her daughter in San Luis Obispo.” Lipman shared with SF Gate that the current owner is excited to "pass along the incredible property."
The “Barrel House” was in the owner’s family for 40 years, presenting a unique opportunity to for potential buyers to purchase a home designed by legendary Big Sur architect Mickey Muennig.

Muennig was known as the “man who built Big Sur” and was best known for the design of Post Ranch Inn, a luxury resort built on the cliffs of Big Sur, according to reporting by SF Gate. He also championed organic architecture, blending properties into their surrounding landscape, SF Gate reported.
Views from inside and outside the 'Barrel House'
The house is located at 1 Pfeiffer Point Road in Big Sur, which is west of Highway 1 up on Pfeiffer Point, near the popular Pfeiffer Beach, SF Gate reported.
The vast Big Sur horizon of peaks, canyons and endless ocean vistas can be seen from the property, providing an “expansive view” of the surrounding area, according to the online listing.
The “Barrel House” blends rustic charm with ocean views” and comes complete with 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a loft over 2,200 square feet. A guest cottage, among other amenities, are also located on the five-acre property.
“It is among a rare enclave of houses that sit atop the ridge west of Highway 1. This rustic hand-built home is in the heart of the Big Sur wilderness while being just minutes away from local Big Sur restaurants, resorts and other amenities,” according to the online listing.
